Sunday 8th September 2002, The Fullers Arms, Brightling, Nr. Hailsham, East Sussex

One sunny summer's day in green Sussexstershire,
A brace of swarthy minstrels met, all garbed in rock attire.

The venue: Fuller's Public House in Brightling near the sea.
To steel themselves the vagabonds imbibed a pint or three.

Time passed and, somewhat nervously, one voiced his thoughts aloud,
"I wonder where young Dave can be, he should be here by now!"

"I've had a call from Bri and Grace who've taken a wrong turn.
I keep suggesting AutoRoute but do they ever learn?"

Their sturdy ales were all but supped as, in a shower of gravel,
Bri and Grace - in Audi style - concluded pubward travel.

"What ho, Old Chaps!" exhorted Bri with customary flair.
"Hello!" said Grace beautifically whilst gelling up his hair.

"Drinks?" enquired Peter of the sweating, motley crew,
"Germaine for me," said Brian adding, "Gracie, how 'bout you?"

"An icy cold Germaine sounds like the very thing I need!"
Said Grace, "And while you're doing that, I'm going for a pee."

And so bewildered Peter, mockney rhyming slang translated,
Set off towards the counter where he stood and watched and waited.

Returning with the amber pots, Pete checked his watch and cried,
"Time's marching on, come on you tarts, lets get the stuff inside!"

As Pete manhandled bass cabs and while Josh lugged Marshall tools,
Graham started on the drums and talked a load of balls.

Meanwhile young Bri (a legend for his work-shy, slacker's tricks)
Hove into view encumbered by two pairs of Vic Firth sticks.

Slowly, yes but surely, the bandstand was prepared.
The Badgered boys were good to go but Dave still wasn't there!

Then in the midst of frantic 'phoning who should wander in?
Young David warmly beaming an apologetic grin.

The stage was set, the lights were low, the atmosphere profound
As with a crash of crunchy chords the band played "Turn Around".

The set of course you'll know by now and what a set it is,
With rock guitars and bass and drumkit Badgered do the biz.

The last chords of the final song proclaimed a sad goodbye,
As Gracie for the final time departed with a sigh.

The thrill of the West Indies proved too much to resist,
His vocal style and boundless mirth will both be sorely missed.

For Badgered now a short break from the urge to entertain
But rest assured they'll be back soon to rock your world again.
